Hales Valley Trust receives letter praising work on attendance from the Secretary of State for Education

Hales Valley Trust CEO Rebecca Cox has received a letter from The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education, acknowledging the work the Trust has done around improving attendance. Rebecca recently met with members of the West Midlands Regions Group to discuss the approach the Trust had taken.
The Trust has taken steps to strengthen accountability arrangements and hold regular attendance review meetings, focusing on early intervention to identify pupils at risk of persistent absence and provide support to reduce the number of pupils moving into higher absence categories. This has included significant work to strengthen engagement with families, working alongside them to tackle barriers to school attendance.
We know there is always more that can be done to ensure as many children as possible are in school each day, but we want to thank all those across our schools who have been making a positive difference to attendance this year, we really value their commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to benefit from being in school and ready to learn.
